We are a team of expert digital designers and developers who work together to build creative and reliable solutions to deliver success for our customers. We haven’t done the exact maths, but our combined years of experience are easily into triple figures.
We believe in investing in our team to ensure the development of strong skills in the areas critical to our clients. This mix of analytical, business-focused and creative minds enables us to deliver work of the highest quality. We work with clients every step of the way; from initial requirement discussions through completion and future support, the team have you covered.
A Little History
Accent was established in 1990 by Managing Director Geoff Somner, offering a computer-based artwork service to design studios – at a time when only a few of the larger agencies actually owned computers. Equipped with a Macintosh II FX with 4Mb RAM, an 80Mb hard disk and a 14” colour screen, the stage was set!
The company grew, moving to offices in Upper St Giles then to St Benedict’s Street in 1992. Accent diversified into computer training, took on its first members of staff, and began to offer a complete design service working for the likes of Kettle Foods and Greentours, who are still clients to this day.
In 1997, with its commercial restrictions lifted, the Internet kicked down the door of the world. Accent was one of the first companies in Norwich to foresee the opportunities and begun offering a web design service to clients. The team continued to grow, as did the portfolio of work, now to include database-driven websites and bespoke software systems, winning contracts with the likes of the Norfolk Constabulary and the Learning & Skills Council.
Through the noughties and beyond, the list of specialisms expanded to include mobile app development. Accent took on larger and more prestigious projects for clients such as Agency Express, the Association of Police & Crime Commissioners and KLM UK Engineering. To reinforce that expansion, Accent’s longstanding technical guru, Dave Fuller, was made a Director of the company in 2014.
Since the 2020 pandemic, the team has been working remotely. In 2021 Accent left its lovely office in St Matthews Old Church for a tenancy at The Enterprise Centre on the University of East Anglia campus. With both MD Geoff and lead programmer Craig being UEA alumni, it very much feels like Accent’s come home.
